Rectal Exam Records was founded by cousins Ben Ackley and Nathan Madery as a way to release the 20 minute recording session they captured one evening after stepping away from a family function. The duo, known variously as Pig Rectum, The Koala Bears, Richard Johnson & The Scrotum Totems, Pig Rectum II, Greasy Onion Bag, and Ackley & Madery, launched the empire you know today with a simple, but raucous, guitar-and-vocals bedroom recording. Today, Rectal Exam Records' roster boasts hundreds of artists recording everything from experimental rock to experimental electronica! In fact, Pig Rectum, The Koala Bears, Richard Johnson & The Scrotum Totems, and Pig Rectum II all specialized in a genre called "All," and The Livewires have played everything from metal to jazz to electro and avant garde, recording songs as short as 0:03 and as long as an hour!
